Well-dispersed multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) in sodium alginate (SA) aqueous solutions have been prepared. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was employed to determine the distribution of the MWNTs in the solution in a microscopic sca le. The dispersion and rheological behavior of the nanotubes in the solution was monitored by rheology. It was found that the addition of MWNTs had an obvious influence on the rheological behavior of the composites. As the MWNTs loading increased, zero-shear viscosity increased, and the critical frequency of the
typical transition from viscous to elastic behavior decreased which suggested a transition from liquid-like to solid-like
viscoelastic behavior. The application of Cole-Cole analysis revealed that the MWNTs had a good dispersion in SA solution even at high content. |
