Due to the low cost and wide diversity in chain structures, polyolefins are the most
widely used synthetic polymers today. Shear flow during the molding processes has been proved to bring strong effects on the crystallization of polyolefins. The most
notable changes in structure and properties are associated with the flow-induced ransition from a relatively isotropic spherulitic morphology to a highly oriented shish-kebab morphology, which can markedly increase stiffness and decrease permeability of the products. |
