Polystyrene (PS)/Garamite particles with different Garamite contents were prepared through in-situ suspension polymerization, and then added into polypropylene (PP) matrix as modification fillers through melt blending.
Dyeable PP fibers were melt-spun from the above PP/PS/Garamite blends. The thermal property of the blends was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The result showed that the enthalpy of the blends decreased along with the rising of Garamite contents. Furthermore, the PP/PS/Garamite blended fibers acquired excellent dyeability because of the breakage of crystallinity. The rheological property of the PP/PS/Garamite blends, which helped us to identify the spinning process setting for the blends, was also studied. |
