The multi-arm polylactide possesses a better crystallization ability because of higher L-lactide content than linear polylactide 3051D, analyzed by Monte Carlo simulation of 1H NMR data. The crystallization ability of 3051D is enhanced after being blended with 6 wt% of multi-arm polylactide, due to earlier ucleation and formation of more crystal nuclei, revealed by polarized optical microscopic observation. The complex viscosity of multi-arm polylactide measured in melt or in chloroform solution
is much lower than that of linear polylactide of comparable molecular weight because of its smaller hydrodynamic volume and less ermolecular entanglements caused by the multi-arm structure. |
